Get answers to common questions about TCA Intense Peel.
During treatment you’ll feel a stinging or warm sensation as TCA is applied; technicians monitor closely. Peel passes through phases of frosting, followed by redness and eventual peeling. Sessions typically last 30–60 minutes including preparation and neutralization.
Expect 5–10 days of active peeling and visible redness, with most swelling resolving within a week. Full skin remodeling continues for weeks; avoid sun exposure and follow aftercare to optimize healing and reduce complication risks.
Most clients experience stinging and heat; topical numbing and cooling techniques are provided for comfort. Deeper concentrations may require more intensive comfort measures. Your provider will discuss pain control options during the consultation.
Results depend on concerns; one medium-depth peel yields significant improvement for texture and sun damage. Acne scarring or deeper pigmentation often benefit from a series of two to three treatments spaced four to six weeks apart, as recommended by your provider.
TCA Intense Peel is best suited for Fitzpatrick I–III and varying hyperpigmentation levels. It carries higher risk in darker Fitzpatrick types IV–VI due to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. A consultation and test spot determine safety and appropriate concentration.
Strict sun avoidance, broad-spectrum SPF, gentle cleansing, and intense hydration are essential. Avoid active ingredients (retinoids, exfoliants) until healed. Expect peeling — do not pick. Follow clinic-prescribed serums, ointments, and follow-up visits to monitor healing and maximize outcome.
